Mill Nurseries Ltd from Keyingham in East Yorkshire are one the UK's leading producers of tomatoes. As part of their continued expansion programme they have recently completed a 17,400m2 glasshouse extension.
HOK were pleased to supply the new state of the art glasshouse and install the heating system.
The glasshouse comprises 17,400.0m2 of modern Venlo structure with 8.0m spans and a post height of 5.0m. Ventilation is in 4 zones with ventilators fitted on both sides of the ridge. All structural steel is galvanised and powder coated white to reflect as much light as possible onto the crop.
The hot water heating system is split into four growing zones, each with trolley and crop heating circuits to complement the hanging gutter method of growing. Heat is supplied by the nurseries existing “energy centre” with both boiler and CHP (combined heat and power) installations.
