Coletta & Tyson are one of the UK's largest producers of flowering pot, bedding plants and hardy nursery stock.

As part of Coletta & Tyson's expansion programme HOK have recently completed phase one of a four phase project. HOK developed this project from cornfield to a working nursery. The work included:-

• Approx. 120,000m² of site clearance and levelling.
• Detailed design and project development.
• Glasshouse (62,136.0m² ) with a post height of 5.0m comprising:-

                - 5 no. growing zones 48,384.0m²
                - Work area 9,936.0m²
                - Boiler house 1,036.8m²
                - Corridor & service areas 2,779.2m²

• Oil fired hot water heating system running off 2 no. boilers (20,000Kw of boiler plant).
• Heating in the growing zones via. lifting heating system
• 14,400m² of concrete floors and paths
• Car park
• Automated irrigation system with 49 no. irrigation gantries, each gantry spanning 9.6m.
• Hoogendoorn environmental computer.
• Automated internal transport system and robotics

               - 2 no. shuttles
               - Transplanting lines
               - 60,000 trays
               - Tray stacker / de-stacker
               - 10,000m rails in the glasshouse for tray handling robots

• Thermal screens
• 2 no. loading docks
• Canteen, toilets, work shop and staff welfare facilities
• Peat bunker with automated peat handling system
• Water storage reservoir
• H.V. electricity supply
